New here? Read how this page works
First, here is the honest picture. Nothing is open here, or in any neighbouring state. So here is how to use this page.
- Ask which pattern you have. Because redness and bumps need different treatments, and a drug aimed at one does very little for the other.
- Mention your eyes. Notably, gritty burning eyes and repeated styes are part of this condition, and it is almost never asked about.
- Keep a trigger diary for a few weeks. In fact, triggers are individual, so yours will not match anybody else’s list.
- Finally, tap the button. Then we keep your details on file and call you when a study opens near you.
Of course, checking never signs you up for anything. You are only seeing where you might fit.
Studies Open Near Charlotte Right Now
There are none, and we will not pad the page. However, the reason is specific and it is worth understanding.
Nothing is open, and this one is genuinely empty
Nothing recruits in either Carolina, or in Georgia, Tennessee or Virginia. The nearest sites are in Ohio and Florida, and we will not pretend those are realistic. So we would rather show you an empty space than pad it.
Not sure which one fits you?
First, answer a few quick health questions. Then we keep them on file. Finally, we call you when a study opens near Charlotte. No account, no paperwork.

Four approvals in a decade, and then a pipeline that has gone almost completely quiet.
It Is Not Acne, and the Difference Matters
Both can produce bumps on the face, so they get confused constantly. However, rosacea has no blackheads, and that is the quickest way to tell them apart. So the treatments differ, and some acne treatments make rosacea worse. Notably, being treated for the wrong one for years is a very common story here.
There Are Several Patterns, Not One Disease
Some people mainly go red and flush. Others mainly get bumps and pustules. Some develop thickened skin, usually on the nose. Finally, some have it in the eyes. So the pattern you have decides the treatment entirely, and people often have more than one.
Redness and Bumps Need Different Drugs
This is the practical heart of it. Creams that reduce the bumps do very little for background redness. Meanwhile, the drugs that reduce redness work by tightening blood vessels and do nothing for bumps. So if one treatment disappointed you, it may simply have been aimed at the other half.
Nobody Asks About the Eyes
Ocular rosacea causes gritty, dry, burning eyes and repeated styes. It can appear before any skin change at all, which is why it goes unrecognised. So mention your eyes even at a skin appointment. In fact, one of the few studies still running anywhere in this field is aimed specifically at the eyes.
Triggers Are Personal, So Track Yours
Sun, heat, alcohol, spicy food, stress and sudden temperature changes are the usual suspects. However, the list is individual, and somebody else’s triggers may do nothing to you. So a simple diary for a few weeks beats any general list. Meanwhile, sun protection helps almost everyone, and it is the cheapest thing on the list.
The Little Mite Is Real, and Not Shameful
A microscopic mite lives on everybody’s skin, and in rosacea there are often far more of them. So one approved treatment works by reducing them. That has nothing to do with cleanliness, and it is worth saying plainly. Notably, several newer approaches are aimed at exactly this.
Antibiotics Here Are Not for Infection
Low dose doxycycline is used at a dose too low to kill bacteria. It works as an anti inflammatory instead. So it does not carry the resistance concerns that a full antibiotic dose would. Meanwhile, that distinction is rarely explained, and it worries people unnecessarily.
The Thickening Is Treatable Too
When the skin of the nose thickens, creams and tablets do not reverse it. So that stage is treated with lasers or with surgical reshaping instead. However, treating the inflammation early makes it far less likely to get there. In fact, that is one of the strongest arguments for not leaving it alone.
Why Nothing Is Open Anywhere Near You
This is the emptiest field on our whole site right now, and the reason is straightforward. Four treatments were approved over the past decade, so the companies that ran those studies moved on. So nothing recruits in either Carolina, or in Georgia, Tennessee or Virginia. Meanwhile, the nearest recruiting sites anywhere are in Ohio and in Florida, which we will not pretend is a realistic option.
Rosacea Help Near You
Ask which pattern you have, because redness and bumps need different treatments. Also, mention your eyes, because that part is real and almost never asked about. Finally, keep a trigger diary for a few weeks, since yours will not match anyone else’s list. Meanwhile, join the list and we will call you when a study opens here.

New to studies? Here is how one works, step by step.
01
Prescreening

02
Screening Visit
Next the clinic runs the tests that decide it, which usually means blood work. Also, they go through the consent form line by line, and you can bring somebody with you.
03
Treatment Period
Then the study begins. So you take the study drug or the placebo on the agreed schedule. Meanwhile, your own doctor keeps managing everything else.
04
Follow-Up
Finally, there is a check in period at the end. Also, your own doctor gets the results, and you can stop at any point without affecting your care.
Rosacea Trial FAQs
Real answers about rosacea studies near Charlotte NC.
Is there a study for this near Charlotte?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Nothing is recruiting in either Carolina, or in Georgia, Tennessee or Virginia. The nearest sites of any kind are in Ohio and Florida, which we will not pretend is realistic. However, the reason is that four treatments were approved over the past decade, so there is a great deal your own dermatologist can already offer.
How is this different from acne?
The quickest test is blackheads. Rosacea does not produce them and acne does. So if you have bumps but no blackheads, rosacea is the likelier answer. Notably, some acne treatments make rosacea worse, which is why the distinction matters. Also, being treated for the wrong one for years is a very common story here.
Why did my treatment only half work?
Because redness and bumps need different drugs, and most people are given one of the two. Creams that clear the bumps do very little for background redness. Meanwhile, the drugs that reduce redness work by tightening blood vessels and do nothing for bumps. So ask which half of the problem your treatment is actually aimed at.
What about my eyes?
Gritty, dry, burning eyes and repeated styes are part of this condition. It can even appear before any skin change at all, which is why it goes unrecognised for so long. So mention your eyes even at a skin appointment. In fact, one of the few studies still running anywhere in this field is aimed specifically at the eyes.
Is the antibiotic because I have an infection?
No, and this worries people unnecessarily. The dose used here is deliberately too low to kill bacteria, and it works as an anti inflammatory instead. So it does not carry the resistance concerns a full dose would. Notably, that distinction is rarely explained at the pharmacy counter.
Is the skin mite thing real?
Yes, and it is nothing to be embarrassed about. A microscopic mite lives on everybody’s skin, and in rosacea there are often far more of them. So one approved treatment works by reducing their numbers. Meanwhile, that has nothing whatsoever to do with cleanliness.
Can the thickening of my nose be treated?
Yes, though not with creams or tablets, which do not reverse it. That stage is treated with lasers or with surgical reshaping instead. However, treating the inflammation early makes it far less likely to get there. So it is one of the strongest reasons not to leave rosacea alone.
Does it cost anything to join the list?
No. There is no cost, and no insurance is needed. Tether is a nonprofit list, so we do not run studies and we are not paid to send you anywhere. Also, being on the list never enrolls anyone in anything. You would always call the clinic yourself.
Where can I get help near Charlotte NC?
Atrium Health and Novant Health both run skin services across the metro. Also, ask for a dermatologist rather than treating it as acne, because the two need different drugs. Generally, your own doctor can refer you. Meanwhile, if your eyes are gritty or burning, say so, because that is part of the same condition.

Study details and per-site recruiting status verified against ClinicalTrials.gov on August 17, 2026. Nothing is recruiting for this condition in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee or Virginia. It was also checked separately, rather than assumed, that no registry or observational study for this condition is recruiting anywhere in the country. One study aimed at the eye form has a site about 200 miles away, but it is open by invitation only and is therefore not listed as an option. Study availability and criteria change; the research clinic confirms everything before you enroll.
